Atom Processors Supported Again by Snow Leopard

Thursday, 03 December 2009 09:56
Mac OS XApple announced a few days ago that the Mac OS X 10.6.2 update will not support Intel Atom processors anymore. A few days later on the Internet appeared a newly-hacked kernel which allows Snow Leopard to support Intel Atom processors again.

It seems that a Russian hacker managed to find a way to replace the 10.6.2 kernel with a versions that supports Intel Atom. This is not an easy operation and knowing that it comes from a guy who owns a blog in russian might arouse some suspicions.

For now it is not certain if Apple did this on purpose or not but maybe we will find out when the new version will be released. Until then, those of you who are willing to give a try to the hacked kernel should know that a hacked version doesn't guarantee safety at all.
