A new Intel® Xeon® processor codenamed "Nehalem-EX" has been revealed by Intel. Being able to deliver a number of new technical advancements and boost enterprise computing performance, the processor will be running the next generation of intelligent and expandable high-end Intel server platforms.

The Nehalem-EX processor, being ready to enter production later this year, will feature up to eight cores inside a single chip supporting 16 threads and 24MB of cache. Offering the highest-ever jump from a previous generation processor, its performance increase will be dramatic.

The world’s fastest and most innovative web browser has been revealed by Apple. Safari 4, being available for Mac® and Windows PCs and introduced as a beta in February of this year, features the Nitro engine which runs JavaScript up to 4.5 times faster than Safari 3. The innovative features in Safari 4, among are Top Sites, Full History Search, Cover Flow®, and support for modern web standards like HTML 5 and advanced CSS Effects make Safari 4 makes browsing more intuitive and enjoyable.

Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, Philip Schiller, stated: “The successful beta release helped us fine tune Safari 4 into an even better, faster version that customers are going to love.” He adds: “Safari is enjoyed by 70 million users worldwide and with its blazing fast speed, innovative features and support for modern web standards, it’s the best browser on any platform.”

In order to acquire certain assets of Rosetta Biosoftware, a business unit of Rosetta Inpharmatics LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Merck & Co. Inc. Microsoft Corp. revealed that it has signed an agreement with Merck & Co. Inc. To enable enhanced translational research capabilities, the deal allows Microsoft to incorporate genomic, genetic, metabolomic and proteomics data management software into the Microsoft Amalga Life Sciences platform, while,in order to enhance the Amalga Life Sciences platform to meet emerging pharmaceutical research needs, Microsoft will establish a strategic relationship with Merck.

Having its Xbox LIVE community swelling to more than 20 million active members, Microsoft Corp. revealed the fact that sales of Xbox 360 consoles have passed the 30 million mark globally. Growing up 28 percent over the previous year, Xbox 360, coming after the biggest year in its history in 2008, achieved the highest percentage growth in hardware sales of any console so far in 2009.
