Realtek has partnered with Asus to develop wireless monitors employing Realtek's Wireless USB technology. The wireless ASUS monitor is expected to integrate a Wireless USB module embedded into the monitor. Such a monitor can be connected to the PC by using either a Wireless USB HWA (Host Wire Adapter) or WHCI (Wireless Host Controller Interface). "Wireless operation opens up an entirely new experience to our customers, with unsurpassed convenience and ease-of-use," said Vincent Chiou, director of ASUS Display. "Our search for high performance and quality led us to choose Realtek's state-of-the art Wireless USB solutions as a key component in raising the easy usability of Asus monitors to a new level." he added.
ASUS is known for always being innovative with its new products and, if it releases a wireless monitor before any other competitor, the company might also become one of the leading display manufactures. Wireless monitors have been talked about since early 2007 and were expected to be released somewhere in the mid-2008. Unfortunately, we shall have to wait a bit longer for that. Still, there is no word yet on how the use of wireless technology will impact the total cost of such a product.
