AMD has released a new version of the Stream Software Development Kit (SDK), allowing developers to write applications which will now be able to run on Radeon and ATI Catalyst graphics processors. ATI said the companies are now beginning to realize the important gains in performance for different applications on a parallel processing architecture of the GPU. SDK 1.2 brings a few new features.
With suport for both graphics processors ATI Radeon HD 4850 and HD 4870 on multiple operating systems, ATI Catalyst Display Driver 8.8, SDK 1.2 comes with a unified user guide, a model of documents and improved browser and advanced performance at Book +. AMD believes that Stream Computing will provide the possibility to process a large amount of information in less time than traditional methods, specifically because of the full advantage of parallel processing power of the GPU.
